Fry Fine Art Opening - Peterborough, NH

Last night, we attended the Grand Opening of a new art and antiques gallery in downtown Peterborough, NH. If you've never been to Peterborough and are within three hours, please do yourself a favor and make a day trip. Totally quaint, lots of historic brick buildings which house art galleries, antique and clothing shops and a variety of eateries. Lovely gardens, rivers and waterfalls. Quintissential New England! I am lucky enough to live here.

We arrived at the gallery located on Grove Street and found a beautiful, bright space filled with paintings, sculpture, home decoratives and fine antique furniture. Their focus is primarily American art from the 19th, 20th and 21st century. The owner is a local gentleman with a fairly extensive art collection with not enough wall space to hang it all. So... why not share with others? Good call.

Their premiere exhibit features art by Emile Albert Gruppé. Gruppé (1896–1978) was an American painter born in Rochester, New York, but spent a bit of time in the Netherlands as a child. I'm not going to pretend to be an art historian, but I see elements of the Dutch Masters in his work.

In addition to the Gruppé exhibit, there are works from many more American artists, plus period furniture, rugs and other decorative items for the home. Totally worth a visit. Last night was literally their first day of business and they hit it out of the park! Here is a link, be sure to stop by on your trip to lovely Peterborough, NH. http://www.fryfineart.com

After the opening, we casually strolled to Depot Square in Peterborugh for dinner. Many people from the opening were there, so it was a chance to catch up with old friends in a beautiful setting. I had a petit 4 oz. filet mignon with demi glace, Bob had sausage stuffed quail. Great end to a great night. https://www.waterhousenh.com
